Soundwalk workshop Superbooth 2025
in collaboration with Leaf Audio
8-9 may 2025 at FEZ-Berlin

This workshop took place during the Superbooth 2025 synthesizer convention and offered a welcoming and inclusive space for participants to explore the art of field recording within the unique environment of the FEZ-Berlin. Combining discussion and hands-on practice, we dived into the history of sound hunting, its role in acoustic ecology, and the impact of field recording on electronic music.
After one hour introduction class this guided soundwalk brought the participants through the forest, the FEZ-Brunnen metal sculpture, and the convention space. Along the way, we practiced listening techniques inspired by Pauline Oliveros.
Participants experimented with a variety of recording tools, including professional recording devices, microphones, contact mics, and a Geophone, partly provided by Leaf Audio.
Whether new to field recording or seeking to expand their creative approach, participants were offered an engaging introduction to the possibilities of sound design and recording. This atelier was held in English by the musician and artist Hélo Moondi.
After the workshop, each participant received all recordings made during the soundwalk, material (books, links...), along with an additional sample pack containing studio-treated and denoised versions of these recordings. Selected soundscape recordings were also shared on the Aporee platform (https://aporee.org/).

Hélo Moondi is now officially demonstrating LeafAudio’s microphones and geophones, incorporating them into her soundwalk workshops and artistic research. Known for their innovative craftsmanship in electronic music gear, LeafAudio’s tools—especially their contact microphones and geophones—play a central role in the exploration of environmental sound and acoustic textures in Hélo’s practice. This collaboration allows participants in her workshops to directly engage with professional-grade equipment and discover new ways of listening, recording, and interacting with sound in natural and urban environments.
